Davy Hite, B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year
Ashland City, Tenn. (May 13, 2002) – Team Triton Boats professional bass angler Davy Hite put the finishing touches on his second B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year title this past Friday in Eufaula, AL. The 37 year old from Prosperity, SC finished with 714 points beating his next closest competitor by nearly 50 points.
“I’m just tickled to death to win it again, said Hite. Winning the first Angler of the Year is great, but the second one says even more about you as a fisherman. It says that the first one wasn’t a fluke, and that you are a consistent fisherman at this level.”

Davy’s 2001-02 Angler of the Year chase started immediately, as he won both of the first two B.A.S.S. Tour stops, Michigan (August 2001) and Louisiana (November 2001). His next few Tour events were respectable, but not enough to develop an insurmountable lead, as he headed into the final Tour event (Eufaula, AL) with merely a three-point edge. However, in typical Davy Hite fashion he rose to the occasion and finished 3rd at Lake Eufaula to seal the deal. Davy also won the 1999 BASS Masters Classic in New Orleans.
