| Triton Boats, America’s leading
manufacturer of fiberglass and aluminum fishing boats, has pledged nearly
$300,000 in bonus payouts under its Triton Gold tournament rewards program
to anglers competing in the Bassmaster Weekend Series, a fishing tournament
organization operated by the American Bass Anglers (ABA). According to ABA owner Morris Sheehan, the Bassmaster Weekend Series offers weekend bass anglers an unprecedented opportunity to earn major cash payouts, as well as a berth in the biggest bass fishing event of them all: the Bassmasters Classic. “Our tournaments are geared to the working man,” he said. “Most are one-day events held within a two-hour drive of the angler’s home, which means a huge savings in fuel and lodging costs alone. Plus, our entry fees are highly affordable. Considering the enormous payout and bonus potential, these are by far the most cost-effective fishing tournaments in the industry.” The Bassmaster Weekend Series is comprised of 25 tournament divisions east of the Rockies, Sheehan explained. Each division holds four one-day qualifying tournaments and one two-day divisional championship tournament annually. Anglers can choose to compete as boaters or non-boaters, with entry fees of only $200 for boaters and $100 for non-boaters per tournament. The top eight boaters and non-boaters from each divisional championship earn a berth in the Weekend Series Championship. In addition, another 25 boaters and 25 non-boaters will be selected in a blind drawing from a pool of anglers who competed in all five divisional tournaments, and will also earn berths in the Weekend Series Championship. The winner of the Championship will earn a slot in the Bassmasters Classic. “This is absolutely the fastest possible route to the Classic,” Sheehan emphasized. “You could potentially be competing in this prestigious tournament by fishing only six qualifying events! Even pro anglers have to fish more than twice as many qualifying events to earn a slot in the Classic.” Along with Triton Boats, the Weekend Series is sponsored by Mercury outboards and Motor Guide trolling motors, Sheehan continued. “Anglers who fish from a Triton boat equipped with a 2006 or later Mercury outboard and a 2004 or later Motor Guide trolling motor will receive substantial bonuses in addition to their tournament winnings,” he explained. “The winner of a divisional qualifying tournament who fishes from a Triton boat will earn a $1,000 Triton Gold bonus. If the boat is equipped with a Mercury outboard, he’ll earn an additional $1,000, and if it has a Motor Guide trolling motor, an extra $500. That’s $2500 in bonus money alone for winning a divisional qualifier, besides the tournament payout! Triton has committed $125,000 in Triton Gold bonus money at the divisional level.” Bonus money escalates dramatically at the Weekend Series Championship tournament, Sheehan continued. “Regardless of what brand of equipment he’s using, the Championship winner will walk away with $100,000 cash. If he’s fishing from a Triton boat, he’ll earn an additional $50,000; if it’s equipped with a Mercury outboard, another $50,000, and a Motor-Guide trolling motor, an additional $5,000. Thus the Championship winner’s total potential cash payout is an incredible $205,000, not to mention a berth in the Bassmasters Classic! No other tournament organization even comes close to offering this level of payout potential.” At the Championship, bonus money will be paid down to 50 places, Sheehan added, bringing the combined bonus payout from Triton, Mercury and Motor Guide to a whopping $300,000 this event alone. Triton Gold pays Triton owners cash bonuses in 2500 sanctioned fishing tournaments annually. Registration fee is $20; Triton owners can obtain registration forms online (tritonboats.com), at any Triton dealership, or by calling Triton Gold headquarters (1-888-8TRITON). Participants in the Bassmasters Weekend Series must be a member of both BASS (bassmaster.com) and ABA (americanbassanglers.com; 1-888-203-6222).
